保存地区となっている。重要文化財の旧函館区公会堂や函館ハリストス正教会復活聖堂（大正５年）が高台に聳え、港沿いには煉瓦造の倉庫群
がひろがり、その間に和洋折衷の独特な形態を持った住宅が点在して残る。
